We use the Design Sprint methodology applied to geomatics validating ideas just in 5 days

We guide you searching for innovative solutions so that you can extract the full potential of your geospatial data

Advantages

The Design Sprint methodology allows us to design tailor-made solutions for specific problems.
We use real users to test those solutions before launching them

  • Get results just in 5 days
  • Reduce development costs
  • Increase efficiency in decision making
  • Stimulates teamwork
  • Use real users to validate an idea
  • Accelerate innovation
  • Lead the way to a new project
  • Drives the solution implementation

Areas of activity

We help government organizations, SMEs and multinationals that integrate any of the following disciplines of geomatics into their processes

Gis

Aerial Survey

Data Models

Mobile Mapping

Cadaster and Land planning

GeoDashboards

Methodology

We start with an investigation of your business to understand the problem, «identify the problem».
Then we define the interdisciplinary team that will accompany us throughout the process

Monday
Understand

Using the information collected during the previous phase, we narrow down the problem and define the challenge.

Tuesday
Create

We study and discuss possible solutions with the help of a series of perfectly structured exercises and brainstorming sessions.

Wednesday
Decide

We choose democratically, and not hierarchically the solution that best adapts to our challenge.

Thursday
Prototype

We work on the agreed solution and create a non-functional prototype.

Friday
Validate

We invite five real users to test the solution and give us their impressions so that we can resolve all doubts.

Design Sprint

Structured processes that allow us to respond quickly to specific problems so that a project can continue.

Marcos Martínez

Founder
Geo-Innovation

All my professional life has been linked to geoinformation.
I have travelled all over the world leading projects of more than 200 million euros for multinationals and government agencies in Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

In this time, I have discovered that hierarchy in decision-making slows progress towards innovation.

The Design Sprint methodology streamlines processes.

In 2017 I was part of the team that had to find solutions using this methodology, led by a consultancy specialized in Design Sprint.

It was an experience that changed my way of seeing the implementation and validation of ideas.

From that moment I wanted to learn more and started to participate in many processes that helped companies to get their prototypes ready to go live.

And so Geo-Innovation was born, a consulting firm willing to guide in the search for solutions related to geomatics, to help make decisions in record time.

If there is a methodology capable of validating an idea before investing time and money in developing its implementation, why not use it?

I have a great team of collaborators with knowledge in all areas covered by geomatics such as cartography, geographic information systems, mobile mapping, cadastre, earth observation or data models

who trust us

We have successfully applied the Design Sprint methodology in water network management companies that have managed to use the full potential of their GIS system

Frequently asked questions

Is Design Sprint a guarantee of success?

There is no exact formula for success, however, the Design Sprint is a great tool to ensure your investments, since the design and validation of the prototype allow you to discard ideas and solutions that do not adapt to your needs or those of your customers.

Does Design Sprint work for any type of challenge?

The Design Sprint methodology has proven to be valid in many fields, but there are challenges that are too complex to be addressed with this strategy. Sometimes we can divide them into smaller ones and other times it will simply not be advisable to use Design Sprint. Our advice is that we talk so that we can confirm if the Design Sprint methodology is for you.

What type of prototype is obtained at the end of the process?

A non-functional prototype that clearly represents our proposal, meaning that it cannot be put into production immediately.

How many people does it take to complete a Design Sprint?

There is no exact number, but we recommend to work with a team of between 5 and 7 people who represent your company and who belong to different departments so that the group is as heterogeneous as possible. This will help us break down internal barriers and ensure that all points of view are represented in the solution obtained.

Is a Design Sprint enough to achieve the objectives of my company?

A Design Sprint is designed to respond to a single challenge and it is normal for companies to have more than one problem to solve. Therefore, during the process other challenges may arise that could be addressed in the future with another Design Sprint.

What do I get at the end of the Design Sprint?

A validated prototype, a team committed to the result and eager to keep going. It is important to know how to keep this momentum and define tasks and deadlines among the team members. Transmitting the Design Sprint results to the rest of the organization will facilitate the processes necessary to convert this prototype into a final product.

My team and my company do not see how this methodology can help, how do I tip the balance towards Design Sprint?

It is not easy to introduce unknown and novel ways of working because the team must get out of its routine and dedicate several days to this methodology, but after this experience the company comes out stronger and achieves a motivational dynamic that makes it possible for projects to advance in an exponential way. Communication with team members before starting a DS is very important to ensure the success of this methodology.

What is the cost of implementing a Design Sprint?

It will depend on the type of problem that the company needs to solve, but, without any doubt, it is less than the cost of developing an idea without validation. This methodology finds viable solutions that can go straight to the development phase. Investing in Design Sprint equates to saving time and money.
